Notebleu was tasked with creating a cohesive digital experience that combined the three distinct branches of Whittaker Mountaineering; Sales, Rental, and Expertise. The retail and rental sections needed to compete with top ecommerce outfitters while the expertise section needed to create a sense of trust that went beyond the products. As part of the complete redesign, the new experience needed to be fully responsive.
Whittaker Mountaineering is a family owned mountaineering outfitter based in the Pacific Northwest. Selling and renting top sports brands from their headquarters outside the small town of Ashford, Washington, Whittaker Mountaineering outfits expeditions and climbers around the world.
Starting with a new site architecture and content hierarchy we made finding equipment and related expert information dramatically easier. We also created interactive equipment lists to help users visualize what equipment they own, need to rent, and want to purchase. Analyzing the rate of abandoned transactions, we restructured the shopping cart to have fewer steps and no distractions. By implementing a bespoke fulfillment system, we optimized the back-end workflow for tracking orders, visualizing inventory and analyzing sales trends.
